I grew up watching old cheesy martial art flicks. In many of these movies, someone always boasted that their fighting style is that best.
In the concealed gun carry world, we hear similar arguments regarding the best way to carry. “My cross draws beats your small of the back, my strong side inside the pants beats your silly ankle holster style.”
What Is The Appendix Carry Style?
Appendix carry is simply carrying your piece in an area close to where your appendix ( in your 2-3 o’ clock postion)would be located or over your thigh unfortunately pointing down towards your grapes and femoral artery, a major vessel that if hit could cause you to bleed out in minutes.

Appendix Carry can be scary
After you have carried for a while it can be easy to forget the moment when you decided that you wanted to keep a firearm with you AND that you were prepared to use lethal force in the defense of yourself and those you care about.
They are no longer just tools that you plink with, or hunt with, but they become tools that can be used against humans. Granted they are bad guys determined to cause death or grave bodily injury to you or a loved one, but since you aren’t a sociopath (are you?) it can be hard to get past the idea that they are people and their death would have an impact of those that love. The Case For Appendix Carry
In previous years, I always used some sort of strong-side carry method, including belt-type concealed carry holsters in leather gear made by Bianchi and Safariland, as well as duty holsters when I was a police officer in Knoxville, Tenn. I also carried in a custom shoulder holster for a bit of time after I moved on to the Federal Air Marshal Service and spent a significant amount of time in a seated position.
It was during that mission that I began to consider the downsides to carrying a handgun in the typical strong-side position, simply because accessing the gun while seated was so difficult. Yes Thugs Can Be Wrong
A weapon sheathed in those positions is very easy to defend against a disarming attempt. An added factor for Filipino cops of the lower ranks is that many travel to and from work by bus and feel that FBI carry leaves them vulnerable to a disarming attempt from behind as they climb aboard a crowded bus.
